Make Believe Architecture was comissioned to design The Larch House by WECO Build Ltd. A new build property developed on a site in rural Shropshire with historic planning permission. As well as undertaking full architectural design and planning services we produced a detailed technical design for a traditional timber framed building. The house was completed in 2025. A double height, vaulted entrance with gable glazing to maximise internal light.

The L-Shape plan creates a sheltered seating area, allowing the house to take in fantastic surrounding views.

The living room has a high vaulted ceiling with a fully glazed gable end to allow maximum views and natural light.

Dormer windows keep the roof height lower than a traditional two storey house, ensuring the property is in keeping with its rural setting.

Dormer windows allow light into the first floor bedrooms. Timber cladding with grey windows and fascias creates a contemporary rural style.

The external lighting enhances the natural texture of the larch cladding.

A contemporary interior created via a combination of timber frame structure and steel support work allows unobstructed views to the garden.

The patio area captures the morning sun. Ideally accessible from the kitchen the garden is a great place for a coffee at the start of the day.

Bright interiors set off by natural timber flooring continuing the rural feel on the interior of the property.

The double height entrance brings natural light into the hallway, landing and kitchen and living sapce beyond. This keeps the house feeling bright and airy all throughout the day.

The traditional tiled roof is reflective of farm houses in the Shropshire area. A distinction between the natural slate seen over the border in Powys.

Set on the edge of rural Pant in Shropshire, the house benefits from a fantastic garden with natural hedgerow boundaries.
